Don't Get Me Wrong
"Don't Get Me Wrong" is a song released by the pop-rock group The Pretenders. It was the first single taken from the group's 1986 album, Get Close. It can also be found on the band's The Singles album, released in 1987.

A Conversation Between 04 and 64
The car pulls up to a train track as the arms go down
64: McKenzie, look a train is going to go by and we get to see a train!
04: Yea!
64: Oh look it's the Virginia Railway Express! McKenzie, Grandma used to ride that every day to work in Washington, D.C.
04: What is it?
64: It's a commuter train - it carries people who live out here all the way to the capital. I used to work close to the White House where the President lives!
04: Do you still ride it?
64: No, I'm retired now. This was before I retired, before you were born. We just never talked about it before.
04: Why didn't you tell me about it when I was a baby?
64: I didn't think you would understand.
04: Grandma (frustrated but tolerating) my eyes were open.
So Grandma realizes that until this moment 04 thought she was retired her whole life. She has also reminded her Grandmother that babies are taking it all in - all the time.
Always, always talk to your babies.

Greenburg
I woke up in the middle of the night and accidently watched this movie on HBO. Naked vulnerablilty and I could relate to it all. Strangely it came after a dream about being in a relationship with a brilliant but broken man. I was so delighted to know him, horrified to find out he was so damaged, and more than determined to support him. And all that followed watching a late night sitcom about taking away a man's hoard of wood and destroying his self image as someone who fixes things. Strange night - great movie.

Let's hear it for the 80's
The recent Psych commercials have been bringing it all back. I chose the older Youtube video. Love those 80 styles and the Breakfast Club!

The End of My Summer Shows
The end of summer is such a sad time for me. The end of my cable summer shows which are some of the best on television today. My new favorite is "Suits" which fortunately was renewed for a 16 episode second season. It will be hard to wait until next summer to see these guys again. Only one more episode next week then goodbye Harvey Specter and Mike Ross until next summer!

Eye Candy from "the big C" on Showtime
I just finished watching season 2 of the big C - one of my favorite shows. I have to admit I was mesmerized by Hugh Dancy - the actor who plays Lee a fellow cancer patient. Excellent acting. He plays a gay patient but in real life is married to Claire Daines.

I'm back - again!
So it's been almost 6 months but I'm back. A lot has happened including a move.
I woke up this morning thinking about all the lessons I've learned through life that I wish I understood at 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 21, 18, and so on. Today I kept thinking about "Is this all there is?" I've been there more times than I can count. It happens when I "think" I am stuck, bored, dissapointed, waiting, you name it. The lesson is that it is never "all there is" - there is always something more, something different, something new. Sometimes I've been smart enough to dig myself out, getting out of my comfort zone, initiating change, but more often than not in the midst of my wallowing the universe changes life for me in it's never static - there is always more - natural order.

I've been working on scrapbooks
I love old cars.

Working on a scrapbook of things I like, I thought I'd do old cars and trucks. The subject morphed to roadtrips and a beautiful picture of dusk when the lights first come on driving near a city inspired me to write this:
Dusk
Sun slips.
Night rises.
Eyes scan ...
... Vacancy?
Time to stretch,
relax, unwind.
Let the miles
well traveled
fade with the sun.

Autumn
This year for the first time I realize I am looing forward to the cooler seasons. I like the idea that it will get dark early and I will curl up toasty and warm in my favorite chair. I like that closed in, snug feeling. I like no grass to cut and no guilt that I'm not out pulling weeds. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love Halloween too - but no kids out here in the wilderness. The last 2 years I didn't decorate for Christmas. Will this year be different?
